How to Measure & Care for Curtains
Important Information
To Determine Width
Measure the area you would like to cover. We recommend one and a half times the width to show the beauty of our lace patterns. Double the width for for a more sumptuous look .
To Determine Length
Measure from where you would like the window covering to begin down to the desired finished length. If you'd like to create a Victorian puddle effect, allow an additional 6-12 inches of lace.
If none of our lace window covering lengths exactly match your windows, please remember that our curtains are attractive hanging at a variety of lengths -- hanging to the sill or all the way to the floor or any length in between.
Please Note: All of our measurements show width first followed by length. If in doubt about your measurements, we will be pleased to help you choose the best size for your window.
Hanging Curtains
Rod Pockets
Our lace window coverings are finished with a double rod pocketed top that will accomodate a rod or dowel up to 1.5". We can customize the pockets for a larger rod.
A word of caution: carefully thread the rod through the rod pocket of the curtain. Metal rods may have rough edges which could cause possible tearing of the rod pocket.
Alterations
Our seamstress will be happy to adjust our lace panels and yardages to your desired lengths. The cost is $25 per panel . Please call to customize your order. Please be certain of your measurements as alterations are not returnable.
Washing
Our Nottingham curtains may be hand or machine washed on a gentle cycle in cool water. As with any good quality fabric, bleaching or machine drying is not recommended. We suggest rehanging them slightly damp, and they will fall into place perfectly. Expect some minimal amount of shrinkage after the first washing. Repeated careful washings will only enhance the texture of your lace by making it softer and more like antique lace.
The
Madras Collections should be dry cleaned.
